Artisan leather — Florence

Where Leather Becomes Legacy

Leather jackets, bags and accessories, cut and stitched by hand steps from the Duomo.

Who we are

The Atelier

Three generations of hands on the same leather.

Riva Firenze is a family before it is a shop. The atelier sits on Via del Proconsolo, steps from the Duomo: that is where we choose the hides, cut, stitch and finish every piece. No assembly line, no middlemen. What leaves this room carries our name.

Origins

The same craft, the same family, the same quarter for three generations. The hands change, the leather stays.

The method

First-choice hides, naturally tanned. Worked by hand alone. And when it matters, made to measure.

The Collection

Pieces worn for years, not for a season.

Jackets, hand-woven bags, belts, gloves, small leather goods. Every category comes from the same leather and the same hands.

The work

The Craft

From raw hide to finished piece, with no shortcuts.

Selecting the leather in the atelier
01

Choosing the hide

We check every hide by hand. Only first-choice leather enters the atelier.

Cutting the leather by hand
02

The cut

Each piece follows the grain of the leather, not a generic pattern.

Hand-stitching the leather
03

The stitch

Stitch after stitch, by hand. This is where a piece becomes built to last.

Finishing a leather piece
04

The finish

Edges, dyes, details. The last hour of work is the one you see for years.

I spent an hour talking with Gino about working leather. Patient and kind, even with my seven-year-old.

FAQ · Riva Firenze

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often in the atelier.

Where are you?

On Via del Proconsolo 5r, a few steps from the Duomo of Florence. Open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 - 19:30.

What exactly do you do?

Florentine artisan leather: jackets, hand-woven bags, full-grain belts, gloves, small leather goods. Ready pieces and bespoke.

Can I come without an appointment?

Yes. For ready pieces just walk in. For bespoke we prefer an appointment, but even without we sit down and talk.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide. For bespoke we need at least one in-person visit or a thirty-minute video call to start.

Do you repair old pieces, even ones you didn't make?

Yes, when the original work allows it. Industrial pieces, glued and heat-sealed, cannot be recovered after five years. We say so upfront.
